Michael O Shea
President and CEO of Abalta Technologies,
Michael O’Shea is President and CEO of Abalta Technologies, which he
founded in 2003. He is responsible for all aspects of executive
management of Abalta. Mr. O’Shea is also a frequent contributor to
client engagements, providing top-level guidance to technical projects
and management and analytical expertise to advisory projects.
Mr. O’Shea is a world-leading expert on digital map database formats and
geospatial algorithms. He is named on numerous patents for his
innovative work. He brings a wealth of technical, management, and
industry expertise to our clients from his work at Alpine Electronics,
NAVTEQ Corporation, and InfoGation Corporation.
Mr. O’Shea began his career as an engineer in automotive infotainment
systems at the world headquarters of Alpine Electronics, in Iwaki Japan.
As a senior engineer, he made key contributions to the development of
the first commercially successful navigation system for the US market
for the Acura division of Honda Motors. At NAVTEQ, Mr. O’Shea served as
Director of Software Engineering and led the productization and launch
of the SDAL/NAVTOOLS navigation software development platform. As Chief
Operating Officer at InfoGation, Mr. O’Shea developed and implemented a
turnaround strategy to rationalize the product line, stabilize
operations, and secure the company’s acquisition by BSQUARE Electronics.
Mr. O’Shea holds a BS in Electronic Engineering from Cork Institute of
Technology in Ireland.

Lawrence E. Dunn
Vice President
Larry Dunn is Vice President of Abalta Technologies and a key
contributor in the areas of strategy, business development, service
creation, and client relationships. Mr. Dunn is also directly involved
in many client engagements. He has led numerous projects, including
assessments of consumer markets navigation devices, analyses of the
supplier market for navigation software platforms, development of
strategies to penetrate the automotive and mobile device markets, and
evaluations of emerging and converging technologies for impact on
mobility products and services.
Mr. Dunn was instrumental in the development of the Intelligent
Transportation Systems (ITS) industry and contributed to many of the
leading products in the sector. Mr. Dunn served for many years as
Managing Director of NAVTEQ Professional Services for the leading global
provider of computerized road map databases. In this capacity, he led
the provision of a broad range of management and technology services to
leading ITS industry participants in the US, Europe, and Japan,
including Delphi Automotive, GM OnStar, Alpine Electronics, Magellan
Navigation, VDO Siemens, Bosch Blaupunkt, Aisin Seiki, Panasonic,
Johnson Controls, Denso, and AOL/MapQuest. Mr. Dunn also has extensive
experience in the development and marketing of innovative mapping and
navigation products and services. As Vice President at NAVTEQ, he led
the development and launch of such initiatives as NAVTEQ Real-Time Map
and the NAVTEQ ADAS Research Platform.
Mr. Dunn holds an MBA from Purdue University Krannert School of
Management and a BS in Computer Science from Elmhurst College in
Illinois.

Lana
Pogrebinsky
Principal Consultant
Lana Pogrebinsky is a Principal Consultant for Abalta
Technologies and Chief Systems Analyst. In this role, Ms. Pogrebinsky
provides top-level guidance and leadership for a wide range of Abalta
client projects involving definition, specification, and testing of
complex systems. Ms. Pogrebinsky is expert in the definition,
specification, development, and testing of cutting-edge navigation and
multi-media products. She is also fluent in Russian.
For Abalta, Ms. Pogrebinsky has led numerous projects for Abalta clients
including requirements analysis for several personal navigation devices,
reengineering of a complex content management system, and large-scale
nationwide field testing of navigation systems.
Ms. Pogrebinsky gained her first experience in navigation at InfoGation
Corporation, a supplier of navigation supplier to the automotive
industry. At InfoGation she held a lead role in the development of the
company’s Odyssey and JoyRide aftermarket navigation products. She went
on to serve in senior roles at Alpine Electronics Research of America,
where she was instrumental in the creation of their next generation
computing platform which serves as the foundation for the latest
generations of Alpine OEM and aftermarket multimedia systems. Ms.
Pogrebinsky began her career at Opto 22, Inc., where she developed
embedded software for a proprietary line of intelligent controllers.
Ms. Pogrebinsky holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State
Polytechnic University.

Sychuang Na
Principal Consultant
Sychuang Na is a Principal Consultant at Abalta Technologies
and Director of Software Engineering. In this role, he is responsible
for organizing, staffing, and managing all software engineering
projects. Mr. Na has extensive experience in computerized mapping,
navigation, and embedded software. He is also fluent in Mandarin.
For Abalta, Mr. Na played a lead role in development of a proprietary
map database format, map compiler, and application software for a
hand-held GPS device. He is also directing an Abalta team working on
development of an OEM navigation application for a Tier-1 automotive
supplier and a team developing a new navigation application for mobile
devices. Mr. Na plays a key role in technical due-diligence and other
advisory projects on behalf of our clients.
Previously, Mr. Na was a lead engineer at InfoGation Corporation, a
supplier of navigation application software. He managed the team that
integrated InfoGation software and WinCE for Automotive on the original
Clarion AutoPC hardware platform and then led development of new core
components, including map display and route guidance. Mr. Na also worked
at Cubic Transportation Corporation, where he was responsible for the
design and development of an automated fare collection (AFC) system for
the New York subway system. Mr. Na began his career at Opto 22, Inc.
where he developed device drivers for a variety of proprietary RTOS for
Opto 22’s line of intelligent controllers.
Mr. Na holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of
California, San Diego.

Pavel Stankoulov
Principal Consultant
Pavel Stankoulov is a Principal Consultant at Abalta
Technologies and Chief Architect. In this role he provides top- level
technical guidance and leadership for a wide range of Abalta client
projects. Mr. Stankoulov has a substantial track record of success in
development of navigation systems and other complex technologies. He is
also fluent in Bulgarian and Russian languages.
For Abalta, Mr. Stankoulov was the technical lead in a project to
analyze multiple transaction format protocols for use in the delivery of
location content to mobile devices. He led a development project to
adapt proprietary Vehicle Positioning software to a new map data access
and management method. Mr. Stankoulov is also leading a multi-phase
project to develop a location content management and delivery system.
Mr. Stankoulov served in a number of key roles at InfoGation
Corporation, most recently, as Chief Architect. He led all aspects of
development for InfoGation products such as Odyssey Mobile, a full
featured navigation application for Win/CE and XM Parking, a real-time
parking slot availability finder using XM Radio satellite
communications. Prior to InfoGation, Mr. Stankoulov worked on
development of a wide range of complex systems including a map
visualization and editing tool, and Cyrillic alphabet support for
Windows operating systems.
Mr. Stankoulov holds a degree in Computer Science from Electronic
Systems Technical School and an MS degree in Control System Engineering
from the Technical University, both in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Mako Matsumoto
Principal Consultant
Mako Matsumoto is a Principal Consultant at Abalta Technologies
and is responsible for managing all testing projects and other field
projects for data collection and verification. Ms. Matsumoto is
well-known in the map and navigation industry from her many years in
marketing and critical customer support roles at NAVTEQ Corporation. She
is also fluent in Japanese.
For Abalta, Ms. Matsumoto has managed systems testing programs for
portable and in-dash navigation devices. She has also consulted with
clients to analyze, evaluate, and manage a variety of location content
in conjunction with map data.
Ms. Matsumoto started at NAVTEQ in Technical Customer Support, helping
customers to utilize the NAVTEQ map database. She served as Test Team
Lead for a large-scale program to develop navigation application
software for Panasonic. As a Product Manager, she was responsible for a
wide range of new NAVTEQ content features. Most recently, as Customer
Program Manager, she assisted customers such as Alpine, Pioneer, Denso,
Aisin, and Xanavi to define, validate, and launch new navigation system
features.
Prior to joining NAVTEQ, Ms. Matsumoto was a paralegal for the law firm
of Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, assisting Japan-based commercial
clients to pursue business interests in the US.
Ms. Matsumoto holds an AA degree in Paralegal Studies from MacCormac
College in Illinois.
